The St. John's Centre of RASC is one of 29 across Canada. Their objective is to promote and increase knowlege of astronomy and related sciences. They hold monthly meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at Memorial University of Newfoundland Labrador in the Chemistry Building - MUN C-2045.
The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada St. John's helps us host a Stargazing event every year, usually in conjunction with a meteor shower. The Perseids in August, the Leonids in November or the Geminids in December. The observing sessions are always weather dependant, and a set of days are chosen in hopes of getting a clear night. We have rescheduled Stargazing for the first clear night between Dec 14 and 17th during the Geminid Meteor Shower. The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada will be here to help you see planets and galaxies through their telescopes! This event is free, so dress warm and stop by to see how many shooting stars you can count! Call our voicemail for updates about when this event will be taking place. |
